Management and Proper Care
- It is recommended to observe your goats daily and provide proper careas needed.
- Practice stress-free animal handling procedures and train farm hands in proper animal handling techniques.
- Inspect the facility periodically and maintain good working conditions.
Record Keeping
- Keep good records by identifying each animal and all the pertinent information regarding breeding, culling, health, etc., and make sure to review the records for comprehensiveness.
Bio-Security
- Bio-secure your herd by limiting contact with other animals not from your farm.
- Make sure that your animals are protected from disease. This is possible by quarantining the new arrivals to your herd for at least 30 days and isolating your animals when attending shows by possibly using solid walls.
- Take special measures to minimize exposure of your herd to visitors from other farms or other countries.
