Pasture shelter designed by Dr. Solaiman
A few factors must be considered in the design of housing for goats. Goats should not be over-crowded if confined, and should be protected from the sun, wind and rain. Environmental factors such as heat, humidity, rain, and wind can stress the goat, depress its immune system, and lead to either parasitic or respiratory problems, which can be fatal. Goats can tolerate cold weather and heat as long as they live in a dry environment. Cold and wet conditions promote respiratory problems, and heat combined with water or damp conditions promote parasites, especially in young and growing kids. In addition, physiological factors such as curiosity, agility, small size, and vulnerability to predators necessitate construction of effective protective housing. |
