
This breed was also developed in South Africa from the crossbreeding of indigenous goats and what was known as white Boer goats. There are several reasons for developing the Savanna goat breed. Its white coat is a dominant trait over other colors in goats. In addition, there is an increased demand for the white goat, despite its higher price, for religious ceremonies, celebration of the birth of a son, and the belief that white goats have superior carcass qualities. Apart from its high productivity, muscular development, strong bones, legs and hooves, by the process of natural selection, the skin, horns, hooves and all bare skin areas are totally black and well pigmented (Campbell, 2003
