Also called Anglo-Nubian, this breed was developed in England from crossing British goats with African and Indian Bucks. The name originated from Nubia in northeastern Africa. This is an all purpose breed used for meat, milk, and hide. It is not a high milk producer; however, the milk contains high levels of fat. This breed has a longer breeding season than other Swiss breeds.
The Nubian goat is most widely used in up-grading programs for meat and milk in many tropical countries because of its suitability for hot environments. This is a large, graceful dairy breed with droopy long ears and a Roman nose. It is always shorthaired. A mature
buck usually weighs at least 175 lbs. and a mature doe usually weighs over 135 lbs..
