The French Alpine Goat

Boer Goat

The French Alpine goat originated in the Alps. Size and milk production have been emphasized in production of this breed. No distinct color pattern has been established; however, it may range from pure white through shades of fawn, gray, brown or black. Both sexes have short hair. The males usually have a roach of long hair along the spine.

Alpine females are excellent milkers with well-shaped large udders. Mature females should not weigh less than 135 lbs., and adult males should not weigh less than 170 lbs.
