Weanling to Yearling

Growing buck kids may reach puberty and start producing semen by four months of age. Therefore, to prevent unwanted pregnancies and stunted growth, weaned buck kids should be separated from weaned doelings by this age. Bucks will be undergoing a great deal of development during this time. It is important to maintain them on a balanced diet for growing goats and to keep them free of parasites and diseases. Proper feeding and health management during this time will help them reach sexual maturity earlier and breed more does in a shorter time as herd sires later.
