Post- Breeding Season

The buck should be maintained in good condition during the non-breeding season. At the close of the breeding season, the buck’s activity declines. He should be separated from the doe herd and allowed to exercise and rest. This will allow him to divert his attention away from “hopefully” pregnant does and permit him to replenish his body reserves in anticipation of the next breeding season. All routine management practices should continue (i.e., deworming, hoof trimming, etc.).
